Arts Workshop Technician (Ref: 023)

Salary range: 
£23,754 to £26,715 pa, pro rata

Required one day per week (0.2 FTE)

We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative individual to join Arts Technical team within the School of Engineering, Arts, Science and Technology. To deliver technical support to the students and staff of the School of EAST and work actively with the Technical Team to enhance the student experience at the University of Suffolk.

Specifically, the post holder will have knowledge, qualifications, skills and understanding of the manipulation and processing of materials such as wood, plastics, metal, clay, and plaster to create 3D objects. The safe operation, and maintenance of equipment such as, laser cutters, workshop machinery, power tools and hand tools. Design software applicable to Arts disciplines, such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Microsoft Office applications for document creation, data handling and communication.  A good knowledge of the relevant health and safety regulations.

The post holder will require a pro-active approach to the management of resources in order to maintain high standards in the quality of specialist technical support provision.  She/he will also be required to work alongside lecturers and contribute to the facilitation of exhibitions within and outside the University campus.

The successful candidate will have a degree and/or equivalent/relevant qualifications and experience in workshop environments. Experience of working in an education establishment is desirable.
