Dr John Greenacre spent twenty-three in the British Army as a helicopter pilot and staff officer. He gained his PhD in history from the University of Leeds in 2009 and has recently been appointed as a Lecturer within the History team at University of Suffolk with whom he has been associated in various roles since 2010. John has also been working as a guide on the battlefields of Europe for the last fifteen years and is a member of the International Guild of Battlefield Guides. He spends much of his time working on the First and Second World War battlefields in Belgium, France, Holland, Germany, Italy and Malta. He works with groups as diverse as school parties to major British Army and NATO headquarters, interpreting the historic events that took place on Europe’s battlefield sites.
