An Immersive and Interactive exhibition of Balloon Art Supported by a programme of daily activities
28th July to 7th August 2017
Inflated Inspirations tells the story of ‘Pop My Mind’ (PMM) through the medium of balloon Art in a short-lived exhibition.
PMM is an online forum for artists to share their work and ‘pop’ other people’s creations into new pieces of work. You may see a painting inspire some pottery which then in turn inspires some poetry.
Lead balloon artist, Samuel Stamp-Dod uses a life-sized tree at the centre of the work, with a ‘pop’ heart, as a metaphor of how the art within PMM branches out to artists and becomes new work.
Samuel has been a balloon artist since the late 1990s and now runs VIP Balloons. As well as creating balloons for parties and wedding, he specialises in creating unusual designs and sculptures.
Samuel has joined together with three other balloon artists from across the UK to lead workshops in which the creations have been made. Each piece of balloon art has been inspired by works already in the PMM forum and made by the team of volunteer artists who joined in the workshops.
The work uses approximately 10,000 balloons sized from one inch to five feet.
This exhibition is supported by a programme of daily activities
