The summer is over, and Freshers' is finally here (exciting!). The Student’s Union recently released the line up for this year, and it looks like it’s going to be a great couple of weeks. Here are just a few things that will be going on this September.
Freshers' Fair is the go-to event at the beginning of Freshers' week. It’s a chance to get to know people, sign up to societies, and find out what events will be on. And of course, you can’t say no to all the freebies!
Barcoda is probably the biggest night out for all Suffolk students. Your t-shirt is your ticket to all the bars and clubs. Starting at 7pm at Cult, you’ll be taken round to all the best bars, enjoy games and DJs, and end it all at Unit 17 after the best tour of Ipswich.
Whether you’ve represented your school or college, played just for fun, or are part of a sports club, try out your skills at one of the BUCS sports trials to see if you’ll make it to the team. Football, futsal and netball are some of the sports you can represent the University of Suffolk at, so why not give it a try?
Throughout Freshers' fortnight, societies will be holding various events to introduce you to their society. Join the Film Society to see Jurassic Park or go rock climbing with the Experience Society. Whatever you enjoy, there will definitely be something for you.
Don't miss out!
To make the most out of Freshers' fortnight, go to the University of Suffolk Students' Union website and get yourself a Freshers' wristband to get into all the biggest parties, including the Ball Pit Party, Foam Party, and Freshers Move In Party.
Georgia, our SU President has been busy organising these events for us, along with her team. She told us, “Freshers' is an exciting time of year for everyone. It's a time to network and make friends that will potentially carry you along your university journey. The SU have created the 2018 freshers line up to accommodate for everyone's interests. Most importantly, Fresher Fair is a must go to!! This event will be filled with all the wonderful ways you can get involved with your SU and local area.
The fortnight is packed with plenty of fun filled events. There is a climbing wall and roller world for the adventurous, playtime for the gamers, babies and toddlers morning for those with children, networking and comedy night events for mature students and much more. For those who like to go 'out out' there's a foam party, ball pit, rodeo bull and not forgetting Barcoda! There really is something for everyone throughout Freshers' fortnight and we want everyone to get as involved as possible. Make the most of your time here!”
