When I was looking at which university to go to, I attended a couple of open days, but it wasn’t always possible to get to others. The location, the day, or other things got in the way sometimes that meant I couldn’t make it. A virtual open day would have been ideal in those situations, allowing me to look at the universities without having to do the long journey there. The University of Suffolk has launched their own virtual open days for April and June, meaning that despite the current situation, you can still experience an open day from the comfort of your own home.
Our virtual open days will allow you to get a great feel for the campus. There's a virtual tour, complete with 360 degree photos and videos, so that you can get a proper feel for the campus, buildings and course facilities. The virtual tour also includes a look at accommodation and social spaces too. This will give you an idea of what being a student at Suffolk is like, as we’ll show you everything from where you'll have your lectures to where you might live and social activities.
Subject talks will also be available for you to find out more about your course, modules, opportunities and your teaching team. These talks will be live, so you can ask questions using the in-built chat function. The course leader will then open up a Q&A at the end of the session to answer your questions.
At a normal open day, you will usually hear talks about accommodation, student finance and student support, to name a few. You will still be able to experience the exact same talks from the comfort of your own home, and it will be just like being there. You’ll be able to watch the presentations and listen to important advice on these topics.
The Dean’s welcome talks from each of our Schools will also be available, so that you can get a better idea about your School and your Dean, as well as the University and the opportunities available to you as a student at Suffolk.
Finally, you’ll be able to ask questions any time using our online chat service on our website. Our friendly team will be online to answer any questions you might have about admissions, being a student, the support available to you and much more. If you have registered for one of our virtual open days, you’ll also be provided with a link to go back and re-watch talks in case there was anything you missed.
While attending an open day in person is always ideal, a virtual open day still provides a perfect overview of our University and courses, and allows you to experience our campus almost as if you were there.
