Valentine's Day - for mates or dates

14 FEBRUARY 2019 - KATIE - THINGS TO DO

valentine

You don’t have to be loved up to enjoy Valentine’s Day. Whether you’re in a relationship or not, use it as an excuse to do something fun and celebrate with your date (or some mates!)

We’ve rounded up our top ideas for what to do on V-Day:

Activities

The Buttermarket offers both a cinema and bowling, so grab your partner or a pal and head into town for some fun. Choose from a special showing of the rom-com classic, Notting Hill, at Empire Cinema Ipswich or one of their new releases.

Alternatively, visit the Ipswich Film Theatre for some non-mainstream film choices.

If you’re looking for something adrenaline-fuelled, give rock-climbing a go, visit the dry sky slopes or take a trip to Go Ape for their high ropes experience!

Chill out

Head to the coast for a wander along the beach and a fish and chip lunch. It’s less than a half hour train journey to get to Felixstowe from Ipswich.

Explore the local area! You don’t have to go far from Ipswich to find some incredible scenery, picturesque walks and pretty towns. Woodbridge, Bury St Edmunds and Beccles are all accessible via Ipswich train station.

If you have a car and fancy exploring the countryside, check out Rendlesham Forest, Pin Mill, Dedham or Snape Maltings, all of which are around a 30-minute drive from Ipswich.

Stay in

Need some ideas for an evening in? If you’re a little competitive, crack out the board games! This is also great if there’s a group of you; ask everyone to bring one game with them and some snacks for fun-filled evening.

Other ideas could include film marathons, pamper evenings and pizza parties to name a few.
