While exhibiting his work at the End of Year Show, Luke Mitchell was approached by one of the countys most exciting creative agencies and has since joined their team as a full time Graphic Designer.
Luke celebrated the hard work that has helped him achieve this first step in his career during the graduation ceremonies in Ipswich. Luke, who achieved a 2:1 in BA (Hons) Graphic Design, recognises the importance of gaining such an award.
"Completing the course has made me into a Graphic Designer. It gave me the skills of the trade and the ability and desire to carry on learning."
Following their meeting with Luke during his End of Year Show, local entrepreneurs and business partners Chris Waters and James Kindred decided to offer him a job as Junior Graphic Designer within their creative marketing agency Condiment and web app designers First 65.
Chris said: "James and I were invited to the Degree Show. We were thinking about employing another designer at the time, so it was certainly worth a look. At the show, one particular person's work stood out to us and that was Luke's. I spoke to him at the bar that night, and gave him a business card. He brought his portfolio to the studio a week or so later and we were really impressed so we offered him a three-month trial. After a couple of months, we'd already decided he was exactly what we wanted, so we offered him a job."
Chris added that it was his enthusiasm and positivity that shone the most, something that can help graduates stand-out in the ever increasing crowd.
"We're not interested in reading graphic design CVs; we're interested in graphic design. Luke is enthusiastic about his career choice, and that positivity is great for the studio."
During his graduation ceremony, Luke was also presented with the Turner Classic Movies Television (TCM)- Adam Easdon Internship Award for which he will receive an internship at the TCM Creative Centre in London.
