FOR ATTENTION OF: SPRING 2019 STARTERS
Planning to commute or bring a car with you when you start your course? All vehicles will need to display a parking permit, which is clearly visible at all times. Once you have access to MySuffolk (48 hours after you have completed enrolment), you can apply for your parking permit. This will need to be printed and displayed in your vehicle windscreen. If you need help printing your parking permit from MySuffolk, you are very welcome to visit us in the Infozone.
Please note, until you display a permit, you can only park in the Duke Street Public Car Park (IP3 0AQ). You can view the full list of car parks available on the following webpage.
All car parks are operated by Ipserv who will ensure that only registered users access the University’s car park.
If you are interested in car sharing please post in the Car Sharing thread on the MySuffolk Discussion Area once you have enrolled.
The University encourages the use of bicycles in support of its own and the local community's green travel policies. Students should use the designated bicycle parking areas on campus and ensure their bicycles are adequately secured with an appropriate locking device. Bicycle Racks can be found in the following places:
- The University Car Park outside the Library Building (undercover)
- Rear of Waterfront Building (undercover and covered by CCTV)
- Front of Waterfront Building on the Plaza
- Rear of James Hehir Building (undercover)
- Front of James Hehir Building
- The Wharf Car Park (26 spaces of which 5 spaces undercover)
Blue Badge Holders
If you are a blue badge holder, we still ask that you apply for a separate exception permit. The Infozone can provide you with more information about how to apply for this. There are parking bays clearly marked which may also be utilised by students with an exception permit. If you are struggling to find where the designated bays are, you can find a campus map on our website. Blue Badge Holders are not required to pay the daily parking tariff, although others with Exception Permits will need to.
Motorbikes & Scooters
Motorcycle users may park within designated areas on campus currently free of charge. However, we do ask that where possible a parking permit is displayed.
Student Accommodation and Car Parking
If you are planning to stay in Student Accommodation and you are hoping to keep a vehicle with you then you will need to check out the accredited accommodation options to see where parking is available.
Please be advised that there are currently NO permanent parking facilities for students at Athena Hall or Grimwade Street. Spring Court and various accredited off-campus houses do have parking available.
If the accommodation you are staying in does not offer parking but you still wish to have a vehicle with you, another option would be to search local websites such as Gumtree to enquire about renting driveway space from a local resident.
You may also wish to see the ‘Find Us’ section of the website as it contains useful links to bus and train companies.
Further Car Parking and Travel information for the other partner colleges can be found on the Our Campus page on the website.
