Thank you for your interest in the Parent/Carer Ambassador vacancies at the University of Suffolk. We’re very excited to read your expressions of interest and to learn what you can bring to the Parent/Carer Ambassador role.
To express your interest in becoming a Parent/Carer Ambassador, please complete our expression of interest form. We’ll then invite successful applicants to a casual interview.
Parent/Carer Ambassadors will work on a casual basis and receive £8.21 per hour plus holiday pay. Many of our events are in Ipswich but there will be opportunity to work at various locations in Suffolk. Each Ambassador will be expected to work a minimum of 6 events (20 hours) across the academic year. Successful candidates will attend an unpaid training session to equip them with key information about higher education. This training session will also give us an opportunity to hear your ideas for engaging with Suffolk parents.
If you have any further questions, please contact Jack Massie.
What is a Parent/Carer Ambassador?
If you’ve visited us at one of our Open Days or campus events, you may have met some of our Student Ambassadors who welcome visitors to the University and share their experiences of higher education. Our Parent/Carer Ambassadors will perform a similar role but will specifically look to engage with parents and carers. Some of the parents and carers who attend our events are new to university and we want to make them feel as welcome and informed as possible. That’s where our Parent/Carer Ambassadors will come in.
As a Parent/Carer Ambassador at the University of Suffolk you’ll spend your time having informal discussions with other parents and carers at events like University Open Days and school talks about higher education. You’ll share your experiences of helping your child apply to university, answer questions about student life, and be a friendly and approachable source of information for parents and carers who are new to higher education.
What are we looking for in a Parent/Carer Ambassador?
We are looking for a team of Parent/Carer Ambassadors who are friendly, like talking and listening to other people, and have experience of helping a child through the university application process. Parent/Carer Ambassadors must be based in Suffolk. We’d ideally like to work with parents and carers who have not been to university themselves, are part of a wider network of parents and carers in their community, and have a passion for helping young people apply for university. We’d like to recruit a team of Ambassadors that is representative of Suffolk’s growing diversity and multiculturalism.
