My first year went so quickly, and I’m so happy with what I’ve achieved so far. I made a whole bunch of new friends, became a Course Rep and pushed myself out of my comfort zone to get really involved. This year, I’m looking forward to trying a few interesting (and creative) things.

Try a new sport

If you’ve read some of my other blogs, you’ll know that I’ve been going to the gym more and, strangely enough, been enjoying it. I want to keep up the sport and fitness, so I’m looking forward to going to some of the Most Active Students sessions starting up again in September. I’ve been told these social sport sessions are really good if you want to learn a new sport or just do something for fun. Great way to relieve stress!

Get involved in a charity fundraiser

A friend recently told me about how he had done a charity fun run and had really enjoyed it. It was one of those mud runs with obstacle courses, and it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. So what better time to do it than during uni? There’s lots of charity fundraising opportunities in Ipswich like marathons, bike rides, and fun-runs. If you’re not really into sport, there’s loads of other ways for you to get involved in a charity, like volunteering.

Master a new recipe

I’m not the world’s worst cook, but during my second year, I’d like to find a completely new recipe and try it out. I don’t like venturing out of my comfort zone when it comes to cooking, especially if I’m cooking for other people, so university will be the perfect time to try out something new. Hopefully I can get it right before I go home for the holidays, so I can try it out on my family.

Take a spontaneous trip

Anybody who knows me knows that I love to travel. Who doesn’t? I love exploring new places and finding out about different ways of life. I think spontaneous trips are a great idea, but I’ve always been worried that something will go wrong (I always need time to organize my holidays). So I want to try it out at least once, and who knows, maybe I’ll do it again?

Ace an assignment by not doing it the night before

Although I take so much time to organise my holidays, I leave almost all my assignments to the last minute. No exaggeration, last semester’s hand in week was a week of all-nighters. I know for a fact that I’d get much better grades if I gave a bit more time and attention to them, so this year I’m going to start at least one assignment (if not all of them) earlier than the night before. Then I can reward myself with a spontaneous holiday!

So that’s it, my second year bucket list. Hopefully I’ll still have time to study and go to lectures, who knows?
