The thought of starting in a new place like university can seem daunting, especially if you don’t know where you’re going or who to talk to. Before you start, it’s always useful to know where to go for different issues. You can also contact all these people before you start your course.
The Students' Union
The Students' Union is the place to go for all social events, societies and sports teams. During Freshers' Week, they’ll be providing you with lots of events to get to know different people. They’re also available for any issues you have with their advice service and democratic representation with course reps and Officers. Find out more on their website.
The Counselling service is a self-referral system, so it’s really easy to sign up to. Just go to Infozone to pick up a form and hand it in there. Don’t worry, no one’s going to ask you any questions.
Infozone is your one-stop shop for just about everything at university. The wonderful staff there can answer any questions or point you in the right direction. IT services are also located here, so you can get any issues with your login sorted there too.
Infozone also hosts some drop in services each week for Finance, Mental Health, or Disability services. Keep an eye on the Announcements section in MySuffolk.
Student Services can help you with issues relating to Finance, Wellbeing, Mental Health and much more. You can book one to one appointments with advisors on MySuffolk, by email, phone or asking Infozone.
Student Services can also provide support if you struggle with any learning difficulties and can provide dyslexia screening if you need it.
