The new exciting prospect of a Legal Advice Centre being set up in the University of Suffolk is finally becoming a reality in 2022. This project involves a mixture of students and lecturers from all years of the law department coming together to launch this project within the next four months.
Being a L4 (Year 1) student, and being included in such a fantastic opportunity at such an early start, is absolutely amazing! Initially the Legal Advice Clinic will focus on family law and the start up of small businesses but there will be many other projects as the clinic develops.
From my personal point of view, I am so excited to be doing something that will be “putting back” into my local community but also helping others far and wide. To me, putting back into the community is very close to my heart. I know how it feels to be faced with dilemmas that you believe you cannot rectify, feel as if you have nowhere else to turn, that no one else understands what it is happening or has gone through what you are going through. With the Legal Advice Clinic, people will be able to book an appointment to come and see a kind and understanding person that may be able to help advise them of the choices available to them.
If you want to find out more about this project please contact Eleanor Scarlett or the University of Suffolk. We look forward to hearing from you.
