Initial Teacher Training (ITT)

The University is in partnership with four Initial Teacher Training (ITT) providers located in the south east; Billericay Educational Consortium, Inspiration Teacher Training, North Essex Teacher Training, and Suffolk and Norfolk SCITT.

Each provider offers both Primary and Secondary, Salaried and Tuition routes. Most of the training is delivered in the classroom by experienced teachers, as long-established school centred providers our ITT partners work in collaboration with schools located within Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk providing practical, hands on training from experienced teachers.

On successful completion of the programme, trainees will receive a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), awarded and conferred by the University of Suffolk. This bespoke programme enables trainee teachers to gain their Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) which the chosen ITT provider would recommend on successful completion of the programme. The course usually runs for a year, however one of the providers offers a part-time route which would run for two years.
