Gender and Sexualities Research Interest Group

The Gender and Sexuality Research Interest Group is an interdisciplinary, collaborative research cluster with a distinctive focus on gender and sexuality. This includes – but is not limited to – lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, and ally communities (LGBTQIA+). As such, this interest group welcomes researchers and affiliates (such as professional services staff and health and social sector) interested in gender/sexual identities, minorities, (in)equalities, violence, inclusion/exclusion, education, language, politics, and (mental/sexual) health and wellbeing, as well as topics which employ queer, trans, intersectional, and/or decolonial theory.

This research cluster aims to develop, support, undertake, and publicise research projects and events that can potentially be translated into policy recommendations within the Suffolk community and beyond, thus promoting a comprehensive understanding of gender and sexuality. Additionally, we aim to promote gender and sexuality research/education within the student community by supporting, for instance, gender/sexuality-focused modules and potential postgraduate students.
