Computing Systems and Information Engineering

Anything is achievable

At Suffolk, we’re focused on preparing our students to become exceptional computing professionals. Our specialized lecturers, including visiting professor Dr Peter Cochrane OBE, are committed to provide you the best learning experience possible.

Our dedicated software and networking labs feature server-grade high-spec machines with the latest commercial and open-source industry software.

Our labs are designed to deliver real-world projects. You can build virtual servers, code massive parallel programs to analyse big data, simulate networks at scale or perform ethical hacking and penetration testing in our secure network. Add to this, we have a wide range of networking hardware, internet-of-things development kits, mobile phones, tablets, 3D scanners and 3D printers, to support students in their projects.

You can gain technical skills in programming, networks, databases, web technologies, mobile app development, cloud computing, Big Data analytics, and cyber security. Apart from these highly prized technical skills, you will also be prepared with analytical, leadership and organizational competences. Also, you will have the opportunity to take relevant international recognized industry certifications. Our degrees have been developed in close cooperation with leading technology companies, such as BT, MSC, KCOM and Derivco.

In terms of careers, you as a graduate from the University of Suffolk can succeed as Professional Software Developer; Mobile and Web Application Specialist; Cyber Security Expert; Professional Network Engineer; and Business IT Professional.
