Celebrations for Child Health Nursing graduate

Child Nursing graduate Millie Osman graduated with a BSc (Hons) Child Nursing.

Millie was diagnosed with leukaemia when she was 2 and a half and was treated by Nurse Sarah Todd. Sarah was Millie’s tutor when she undertook the Child Nursing degree

22 year old Millie is now working at Ipswich Hospital. She said “I felt very surprised when I found out Sarah was going to be my tutor. I have learnt, through my own time in hospital as a patient, not to forget about the small things, trying to make the whole experience more comfortable and not as scary, I think that’s the biggest thing I have tried to portray in my practice.”

“I was inspired to go into nursing with everything I went through, the fact that the nurses were so amazing and even when I was going back for my follow ups. They were like family.”

Sarah Todd added “I feel extremely proud of Millie. She has worked so hard to get to where she is today.”

Millie’s mum, Tracy, said “It is people like Sarah and all the other nurses who have made her do this. It’s about being caring, their humanity, empathy and compassion. It is the human side of them that have made her go into nursing.”
