Dates in the winter can be a bit touch and go; you never know if it might rain or be too cold and you don’t want to go for the generic ideas of a meal and a movie.
Suffolk is full of hidden gems and unique things to do on a winter day with your loved one.
Adnams experience
For a really different date idea, travel over to Southwold to the Adnams Gin Lab. There, you can take part in a new experience of making your own gin, going through the distillation process, and then naming and labelling your personal bottle. As well as making your own gin, you’ll be able to taste test different gins. At the end of your experience, you’ll be given your own Adnams glass and a bottle of tonic to enjoy with your new gin. Booking is essential!
An evening at the theatre
The New Wolsey theatre puts on various shows and independent performances at a reasonable price. With Christmas coming up, there will be plenty of pantomimes on at the New Wolsey and Regent Theatre.
Castles and mansions
Around Suffolk, there’s plenty of castles to visit. Framlingham, Orford and even Norwich are some of the best ones to visit. If you don’t fancy travelling too far, have a look around Christchurch mansion and take a walk around the park after if the weather holds up.
Foodies paradise
The Cookery School in Hadleigh offers cooking courses all day on Saturdays. These courses are a unique date idea, and you’ll be able to see how your other half copes under pressure. Turn it into a little competition to see who walks away with the best dish!
