When picking a university one of the most important factors in decision making is what you choose to study but there is also the importance of external factors such as location and community. If you have chosen to stay in Suffolk then there is no need to worry about this because you might already be aware of what our beautiful town and county have to offer, but if not here are some of my favourite things about Suffolk and the bonuses that accompany your studies here.
- Beautiful Surroundings
And not just the waterfront! Suffolk is full of beautiful scenes not just in our wonderful parks and green spaces dotted around the town but also in our neighbouring villages that make for wonderful walks. These spaces are also perfect for studying in the spring sun!
- Close-knit community
Studying at Suffolk really feels like a community and not just at the uni! The town is full of wonderful local businesses which makes the experience all the more friendly and enjoyable.
- Easily accessible campus
Unlike most universities, Suffolk uniquely has a campus situated in the town centre - making it the ideal location for students living in and outside the town centre.
- Prime location
Ipswich itself is a prime location, boasting lots of annual local events such as Ipswich Music Day and the Maritime Festival at the Waterfront as well as hosting art trails and exhibits such as the currently open Power of Stories featuring costumes from Black Panther and previously Ed Sheeran Made in Suffolk. Ipswich is also great for connections to outside places, being only an hour away from London on the train and 40 minutes from Norwich if you want to venture further afield.
Studying at Suffolk is a truly great experience both whilst actually studying and exploring the local area. If you have any doubts about staying local check out our student profiles to hear first-hand what their university experience was like living closer to home.
