This is a growing subject area for the study of Architecture at the University of Suffolk at Ipswich. It sits in the School of Engineering, arts, Science and Technology, (EAST) affiliated to the Suffolk Sustainability Institute and the Centre of History and Heritage. Architecture at Suffolk was established in 2018 by an interdisciplinary team of academics, practicing architects, theorists, urbanists, artists and designers. Architecture is a means of ecology and future anthropology; a critical practice of life.
We approach Architecture as a humanity tool to create and sustain new modes of life within the wider ecosystem of built and natural environments we inhabit. We train our students into learning architecture beyond built form, and beyond space and place; as situated practice; as affordance.
