Clare Burton is a registered Dental Hygienist and Therapist. She received her combined diploma from The University of Leeds in 2004. She has been working in the Community Dental service since 2005 providing care for patients with additional needs and paediatric patients. She has also worked as a Dental Hygienist in a private practice.

Clare has developed her skills and knowledge to include providing treatment under inhalation sedation, Safeguarding children lead and an epidemiology clinician. 

Clare has been an undergraduate clinical supervisor working with Teesside University and has been a mentor for Dental Therapy Foundation Trainees.

Clare appeared in the audience of BBC Question time in June 2023, the topic in discussions was the difficulty in accessing NHS dental provision in the East of England. Clare advocated for the importance of prevention and how evidence-based prevention strategies such as community water fluoridation and supervised toothbrushing programmes need to be prioritised.
